Frequently Asked Questions
I require a consultation because I want us to discuss what brings you to therapy. I want to connect with you to ensure I am a good fit as your potential therapist. If I'm not, I will happily provide you with referrals for other therapists that can assist you.
I am an out of network provider for insurance. I am able to provide all necessary documentation for you to submit it to your insurance for reimbursement. Your insurance company will be able to share the process for doing this as well as what your out of network benefits are.
Insurance serves a wonderful purpose. However, sometimes it can be limiting and dictate the kind of care a client receives. I believe in mental health care that is personal to each client and based on the recommendations for care, not on what the insurance company says they will cover. Being private pay allows me to personalize a treatment plan with your individual needs in mind, not the needs of the insurance company.
A standard session is 50 clinical minutes. Longer sessions of 90 minutes can be scheduled upon request with advanced notice and the rate will increase respectively to the time increase.
First, we have a consultation. After we have both decided on being a good fit, I will send you intake paperwork and we can schedule your first session. The first session is called an "intake session." This is where I will collect information about you, your history, relationships, family, health, etc. From there, we will discuss your concerns that brought you in and we develop a treatment plan that includes goals. Every session we will then tailor our time to meet your needs.
